The Service
The number-one cause of exterior paint failure isn't the weather — it's painting straight onto a dirty, damp or already-failing surface. Cuprinol over moss, Sadolin over loose old stain, masonry paint over flaking limewash. The new coat traps moisture and lifts the lot off in a year.
We paint fences, sheds, summerhouses, log cabins, garden walls, render, soffits and pebbledash. Every job starts with a power-wash, full prep (sand, scrape, fungicidal treatment, primer where needed) and only then the coats go on — sprayed or brushed depending on the surface.
It matters because a proper paint job is the cheapest way to add 10 years to the life of a fence, shed or rendered wall. Done right, you don't think about it again for the better part of a decade.
Why It Matters
Most repaint calls we get are within 18 months of someone else's 'special offer' paint job. Here's why.
Skipping the wash and fungicide means moss spores carry on growing under the paint. Within a year it pushes the film off in patches.
Standard masonry paint on lime-render, gloss on bare timber, water-based stain over a solvent base. Wrong chemistry = peeling within a season.
Paint applied below 8°C or in high humidity skins over but doesn't cure. The first frost lifts the lot.
One coat is touch-up — never a full repaint. Two coats minimum, three on bare timber, is the standard for guaranteed life.

In Detail
Every surface has a system that works and ones that don't. Here's what we use, where, and why.
Cuprinol Garden Shades or Sadolin Superdec for opaque colours, Sikkens HLS-Plus for translucent stains. Pressure-treated softwood needs 6-12 months to weather before first colour coat — bare new fence is treated only. Sprayed at 6-8m² coverage per litre.
Same system as fences but with extra attention to the roof line, around windows and on the floor inside the door. Annual roof felt check included on shed repaints.
Sandtex Hi-Cover smooth or textured masonry, Dulux Weathershield on render, Beeck mineral paint on lime-render or breathable systems. Substrate moisture checked before paint goes on — no painting over damp render, ever.
Masonry paint or specialist mineral paint on raw stone. Pointing checked and made good before paint — no point painting over crumbling mortar.
Wood or uPVC soffits and fascias painted with the right primer system. We work from ladder or low-level access only — high-level (over 4m) we refer to a scaffold specialist.
Decking oil (Osmo, Ronseal) or solid-colour deck stain. Always re-sanded and cleaned first — never just oiled over old failing finish.
We can colour-match existing paintwork to within a shade with handheld scanner samples, and provide A4 painted samples on a board before commitment for any large job.
